We are extremely excited to welcome the iconic B-52H Stratofortress to Tribute to Aviation in 2018. The B-52 completed 60 years of continual service with the USAF in 2015 and will be on static display both Saturday and Sunday. Come by, meet the crew and experience possibly a once in a life time opportunity of viewing the strategic bomber.
Can you tell us where the B-52H Stratofortress was in-service during the 60 years in the US Air Force? Was it ever at Loring AFB, Maine?
Yes it was. My dad was stationed there in 1969 with B 52s.
The 42nd Bomb Wing comprised partly of the 69th Bombardment Squadron which flew the B-52 was based at Loring Air Force Base from 1952 to 1991. The 70th Bombardment Squadron was based there from 1953 to 1966, and the 75th Bombardment Squadron was based at Loring from 1953 to 1956.
