Summer of 1984 John stopped in San Luis Obispo (SBP) for fuel on his way to Monterey (MRY). He wouldn’t let me service the plane but I held the hoses up for him as he climbed up. Incredibly nice man and just a “regular guy” as he chatted with the FBO office staff while drinking a Coke. The picture of him in shorts is how I always remembered that day. What a thrill to meet him. P.s. that plane was beautiful.
